Tijuana Medical Mission Trip

For this project, we sent our YFC volunteers to a small village in Tijuana. Tijuana is a one of the largest cities in Mexico and only a 2 and a half hour drive from LA. Despite its adjacency to the United States, life is very different in Tijuana. A visual look at the environments see the United States with lush greenery and high quality buildings, and in Tijuana, a sun-scorched city, much more different than across the border.

We had walked across the border and rode a bus for one hour to a rural area with no medical access other than volunteers who have medical professionals within their group. Many individuals had been looking for medical aid for their children for a long time and as such, a crowd had arrived. YFC along with the other volunteers helped to bring resources to these impoverished people.

Setting up Face Painting, Nail Painting, Games with Children, and Food Distribution, we started to provide our services to the children and parents. Michael assisted with food preparation, child care, and medical assistance.

The medical professionals in the area set up stands to provide basic dental care, acupuncture, and internal medicine. Matthew assisted with blood pressure, temperature, and translation between the internal medicine table. Many individuals had come to the area seeking aid we were able to provide.

We were glad to make an impact on these people and hope that our aid was far-reaching.
